The ex grafitti writer J Antoni, Stockholm born and raised, started making music in ’94. Inspired by oldschool electro/funk and hip hop as well as sleazy Chicago house and harmonic Detroit techno, the first tracks were crafted with a 303, 808 and akai sampler. The early tracks were a potpourri of all the musical influences and didn’t really get anywhere, but a distinct style began to evolve and in 1996 he started the collective and label Urban Electro Squad. UES (short for Urban Electro Squad) were one of the few (nearly the only) liveacts on the then flowering Stockholm club scene. Ever since, he’s released tracks under the various monikers, Bookhouse Boys, Buset, Copyparty and also under his own name J Antoni.
